On June 1st, 2023, Dr. Oliver Caspari started his position as a temporary academic council at the IfMB, which he will use to do teaching and research, to set up a junior research group and to prepare for his habilitation. In his research, he intends to establish the green microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii as a new model organism at the institute and use it to work on questions relating to chloroplast biogenesis and symbiotic interactions between microbes. In teaching, he will lead the practical class of the microbiology module Bio09 in the bachelor program foundation course in biology.
